On 4th June, 2013, Ms. Michelle Gyles-McDonnough, the new UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative for Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei visited UNU-IIGH for a brief meeting as she prepared to commence her duties in July.
She was received by UNU-IIGH Research Fellow, Prof. Dr. Jamal Hisham Hashim and greeted by Dr. David Baguma and support staff.
Prof. Jamal commenced the meeting by presenting an overview of UNU-IIGH’s history, activities and projects, as well as the institute’s future plans.
Ms. Michelle complimented the research works of UNU-IIGH and placed particular emphasis on the importance of Climate Change and Health which is one of the Thematic Areas of UNU-IIGH. She also stressed the importance of linking UNU-IIGH publications to with related UN agencies, in order to provide a better understanding of the findings which will help various stakeholders.
