This week, the UNU-IIGH-co-founded LAC-Urban Health network, in collaboration with the Wellcome Trust-funded SALURBAL project, releases a policy brief highlighting innovative transportation policies and interventions in Latin American cities. The brief emphasizes how these policies can inspire future changes in the region and the world and provides an overview of the health impacts of transport policy decisions as well as the factors that contribute to the success or failures of such policies. The brief is based on presentations and dialogue at the most recent LAC-Urban Health meeting in Bogota, Colombia in May 2017. It will be formally launched at the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean’s “Cities Conference: Implementing the New Urban Agenda in Latin America and the Caribbean” in Santiago, Chile.
