Professor Dato’ Dr. Syed Mohamed Aljunid and Dr. Nurhizam Safie Mohd Satar attended the Sixth Malaysian Software Engineering Conference on 4-5th December 2012 in Puri Pujangga, UKM, Bangi.

The conference was organised by Faculty of Information Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). The theme of the conference was ‘Towards a Dynamic Society Through sustainable & High Quality Software’.

Professor Dato’ Dr. Syed Aljunid was invited as the first keynote speaker. The keynote paper was titled ‘Promoting the Use of Open Source Software in Health Systems of Developing Countries: Challenges and Opportunities’ whilst Prof. Dr. Abdullah Md. Zin, the Dean of Faculty of Information Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) chaired the session.

On top of the keynote speaker session, Professor Dato’ Dr Syed Aljunid and Dr. Nurhizam Safie organised a collaborative meeting with the representatives of public universities to further discuss the research collaborative initiatives on open source healthcare information systems development.
