Asia e-Health Information Network Meeting

    Professor Dr Syed Aljunid, Senior Research Fellow of UNU-IIGH, was invited to speak at the Asia e-Health Information Network Meeting and IT for Universal Coverage in Manila between 23-28 September 2013 . The meeting and the conference were supported by World Health Organisation (WHO) Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Duetsche Gesselschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The meeting was officiated by H.E Enrique T. Ona, Secretary, Department of Health, Republic of the Philippines.

    At the conference, Professor Syed Aljunid presented a plenary paper in a Market Place Session on “Introduction to DRG/Casemix System and The Need for Computerised Processing Environment”.

    He held a series of discussions with delegates from a number of developing countries who are interested to adopt UNU-CBG Casemix System as a provider payment tool for social health insurance scheme. UNU-IIGH Casemix Online Training Programme and Open Source Online Programme showcased at the conference had attracted the attention of many participants who were keen to build human resource capacity in development of sustainable solutions in health information system.

    Development partners in the meeting expressed their willingness to provide support to developing countries in developing health information system and e-health solutions to enhance the effort to achieve universal coverage. The meeting was attended by around 100 participants from more than 40 countries in Asia and Africa.
