Three UNU-IIGH Postgraduate Students Successfully Defend PhD Theses

    UNU-IIGH is delighted to announce the graduation of three PhD students for the first half of the year 2013. They are namely:

    Dr. Nor Azlin Mohd Nordin (Malaysia)
    Dr. Namaitjiang Maimaiti (China)
    Dr. Maihebureti Abuduli (China)

    Dr Nor Azlin passed her Viva on 3 May 2013 with her thesis entitled ‘Functional status and quality of life of community-dwelling stroke survivors and cost-effectiveness of a carer-assisted home-based therapy’. She was supervised by Prof Syed Aljunid (UNU-IIGH) and co-supervised by Prof. Noor Azah Abdul Aziz and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saperi Sulong (UKM).

    Dr Namaitijiang undertook his Viva on 2 April 2013 and successfully defended his thesis entitled ‘Burden of Invasive Pneumococcal Disease and Acute Otitis Media and Cost- Effectiveness of Introducing Pneumococcal Protein-D Conjugate Vaccine in the National Immunisation Programme in Malaysia’. He was supervised by Prof. Syed Aljunid (UNU-IIGH) and co-supervised by Assc. Prof. Dr. Zaleha Md Isa (UKM). Dr. Namaitijiang has then been offered a post-doctoral fellowship with UNU-IIGH.

    Dr Maihebureti has recently passed her viva on 25 July 2013 with her thesis titled ‘Practice of Traditional and Complementary Medicine Among Medical Staff in Five Selected Hospitals in Malaysia’. She was supervised by Prof. Syed Aljunid (UNU-IIGH) and co-supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zaleha Md Isa (UKM).
