WHO Tobacco Free Initiative (TFI) and United Nations University International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH) are convening an internal workshop to support the TFI team to reflect on its work and explore how we can more effectively address gender equalities in tobacco control.
The key objectives of the workshop are:
- To provide an overview of the key issues related to promoting gender equality in tobacco control and explore how it is relevant to the work of the WHO TFI team
- To showcase transferable examples in tobacco control (and from other areas that can be applied to tobacco control) to counter the gender impacts on health
- To support the TFI team in exploring ways to address gender needs/ barriers in their efforts to control tobacco use, explore potential solutions, and promote action to improve gender equality
