Ways of living, sustainability, urban planning, wellbeing, climate change, economy, participation, sense of belonging, chronic diseases, air pollution, transport, epidemics and more. What are the connections and how do they influence each other? How can we create urban settlements of all sizes that protect and promote wellbeing of people and the planet in a just way? How can we design a New Urban Agenda to guide sustainable urban development and enable all people to thrive?
This Urban Thinkers Campus in Malaysia is a global event to re-imagine sustainable urban development in the interest of human health and wellbeing. To achieve this ambitious goal, constituents are supported to discuss urban health and wellbeing issues virtually so that the three-day event can devote more time to explore solutions through open discussions between constituents. To inspire creative thinking, participants can engage with artists and artwork on urban health created from community consultations particularly for this event.
The Urban Thinkers Campus is organised by the global health institute at United Nations University in partnership with Penang-based THINK CITY, with support from international partners including the Alliance for Healthy Cities, International Society for Urban Health (ISUH), International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE), the ICSU Urban Health and Wellbeing programme, and the World Federation of Academic Institutions for Global Health (WFAIGH).
