The 22nd IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion will take place in Curitiba, Brazil between 22 and 26 May 2016. The aim is to create a global forum where researchers, practitioners and policy makers involved in and concerned about the promotion of health and equity will share and discuss new knowledge, innovations in practice and policy and cutting edge experience.

Thirty years after the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion was adopted by participants who committed “to tackle the inequities in health produced by (societies’) rules and practices” and more than ever, equity should be a top priority for health promotion policy makers, practitioners, researchers and their partners. The 22nd IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion will provide a timely opportunity to assess progress, share strategies, exchange research results and reflect on innovative practices and policies that promote health and equity, at all levels of governance.

UNU-IIGH will host a symposium on Health and Wellbeing in The City We Need. It will discuss and identify the implications of UN Habitat’s New Urban Agenda setting for the coming 20 years, a renewed focus on environmental urban health and ecological decline for the health promotion profession and its practice at all levels. The four speakers at the symposium will be Anthony Capon , Uta Dietrich , Trevor Hancock and Sérgio Póvoa Pires combining research, policy and practice perspectives from Australia, Germany, Canada and Brazil.
