As national governments and global health institutions galvanise support towards reaching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 – particularly the health and gender-related goals – innovative thinking is needed to understand the complexities around health and gender inequities, and their underlying drivers. In this seminar, Prof. Hankivsky will discuss intersectionality and its potential to provide insights to reduce unequal gender and health outcomes. You will gain an understanding of intersectionality – what it is and what it is not, why it matters, and the key considerations for designing a program, research or evaluations from an intersectional lens.
Speaker:
Professor Olena Hankivsky, Chair of Women’s Health and Director of the Centre for Health Equity, University of Melbourne, is an expert on intersectionality and global health.
