UN Expert Group Meeting on High-level Meeting on Disability and Development

    The United Nations Expert Group Meeting on High-level Meeting on Disability and Development – The way forward: a disability inclusive development agenda towards 2015 and beyond was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 2-4 May 2013.

    Pursuant to Resolution 66/124, the General Assembly will hold a High-Level Meeting on Disability and Development (HLMDD) with the overarching theme “The way forward: a disability inclusive development agenda towards 2015 and beyond” on 23 September 2013. This meeting is expected to result in a concise, action-oriented outcome document to provide policy guidance and strengthen efforts of the international community to promote disability-inclusive development.

    The Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations Secretariat in close collaboration with the United Nations University International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH) organized in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, an Expert Group Meeting on the same theme “The way forward: a disability inclusive development agenda towards 2015 and beyond” on 2-4 May 2013.

    This meeting was organized with a view to provide inputs to the outcome of the HLMDD. The meeting invited, in their individual capacity, experts from around the world including those with experience in: disability, development policy and programmes; and disability data and statistics.
