Dr. Syed Aljunid is a Professor of Health Economics and Senior Research Fellow at UNU International Institute for Global Health. Prior to this, he served as a Professor and Head of Department of Community Health, Faculty of Medicine, National University of Malaysia. His main interest is the strengthening of health care systems of developing countries through research and development in health economics and financing. He is currently involved in supporting a number of developing countries to develop and implement a case-mix system, a health management and information tool to enhance quality and efficiency of healthcare services provided by social health insurance programmes. This includes Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Mongolia, Uruguay, Chile, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Yemen
