James L. Lang is a Senior Visiting Fellow at the United Nations University International Institute for Global Health. He has over twenty years of professional experience with the United Nations and other international organizations focused on the issues of human rights, gender equality and social justice with a specific focus on prevention of violence against women and girls.
Among his many roles, from 2008-14 James created and led Partners for Prevention, an innovative UN joint programme focused on violence prevention in Asia-Pacific that produced the largest data set on drivers of violence in the region. He also served as the Asia-Pacific Regional Advisor on Gender, Violence and Rights for UNDP. Recently, designed and launched the UNDP – UNU global project focused on connecting gender-based violence prevention to progress on multiple Sustainable Development Goals.
