Dr. Johanna Riha is a Research Fellow at the United Nations University’s International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH) leading a package of work focusing on advancing gender integration in health programmes and policies to improve health and well-being. 

Dr. Johanna Riha is an epidemiologist with over 12 years of experience in global health policy, research, and programme monitoring and evaluation at international and country levels, largely focusing on the African region. 

Prior to joining UNU-IIGH, through various roles, she led projects and teams, working with a multitude of stakeholders ranging from government ministries, UN agencies, academia, feminist funders, and international and local not-for-profits. Dr Riha’s technical expertise spans sexual and reproductive health and rights, human resources for health, non-communicable diseases, social determinants of health, health equity, feminist leadership, and gender integration in health programmes and policies.
